What is Bitcoin?

Bitcoin (BTC) is a form of payment that acts as money in the countries that adopted it as legal tender. This currency is not controlled by any individual, company, or central bank, and completely eliminated the need to trust intermediaries when doing digital financial transactions.

Bitcoin has a maximum supply of 21,000,000 BTC, but can be used up to 8 decimals points. The smallest unit (0.00000001 BTC) is called a Satoshi, or sat, in honor of the anonymous developer who used the alias "Satoshi Nakamoto" to publish the whitepaper in October 2008, and launch the network in January 2009. His last message was in December 2010 on the bitcointalk forum.

Since then, the Bitcoin network has grown exponentially and remained the most popular and valuable cryptocurrency. One Bitcoin is currently worth $. .
